Our research assistants provide a broad range of health care services. As part of the Physician/P.A. team, they perform physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory testing, assist in surgical procedures, and a variety of other services.

Derek Rhoton joined Neuro-Spine Solutions in February 2010. Derek provides general orthopedic and sports medicine care to patients in the office. In addition to serving patients in the office, Derek is also the first assist to
Dr. John Testerman in the operating room.
Derek is a graduate of the South College Physician Assistant Program, where he was recognized with the honor of being inducted into the Pi Alpha Honor Society. He is also a Registered Radiologic Technologist, as a graduate from East Tennessee State University (Summa Cum Laude). He provided compassionate care to patients at Holston Valley Medical
Center for 5 years prior to joining Neuro-Spine Solutions.
Derek is credentialed by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of both the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Care Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He is committed to providing the best, most advanced orthopedic care to the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia region.
Neuro-Spine Solutions employs physician assistants as a part of our staff to expand the delivery of quality health care. Physician assistants complete college training based on medical school curricula and work under the supervision of physicians.
The physician assistant has many responsibilities and performs a variety of tasks. A physician assistant is authorized to conduct physical exams, and is also credentialed to treat illness and diagnose, order or interpret tests. Physician assistants may also assist in surgery.
